These are some examples of images I could use for my front cover for my music magazine. The images with the green boxes next to them show the suitable images that are possible to use for my magazine as they all have direct address and the main focus is on her face so it will direct the reader to the image straight away if it is on the front cover. Even though there are ones that have green boxes on that are long shots I could crop these images to make them more suitable. The first image on the left hand side is the image I have chosen to use as the facial expression matches my genre as it is quite serious but with a hint of a smile therefore showing that all of the magazine won't be serious. I also think the direct address is good because it is looking straight at the auidence and it is also a medium shot therefore it will be suitable for the front cover.
The images that have red boxes next to them show the images that I will not use for my front cover but could use for the contents or double page spread. These images aren't suitable for a front cover because some of them aren't facing the reader therefore the cover star can't be seen clearly. Also there are some that are long shots and won't look right if they are cropped halfway.

IDEAS FOR MASTHEAD FOR MUSIC MAGAZINE
Here are some of the fonts that I could use for my music magazine. I have chosen to use these type of fonts because they relate to the genre as they are bold which connotes the loudness of the music genre but it also shows the denotations as the boldness of the masthead will make the readers attention go straight to the name of the magazine. Some of the fonts also have cracks in between the lettering which represents the imperfections because not everyone is perfect which sends out a clear message to the reader that it doesn't matter what you look like or that they aren't perfect but by listening to the music that is in the magazine shows that they have something in common with each other. Also the cracks could represent how the type of genre of music isn't displayed as the chart music in the media therefore showing that it is okay to be different. My favourite fonts so far are the third and fourth ones on the right hand side as I feel like they both fit into the genre well.

PROPOSAL
PROPOSAL FOR MY MUSIC MAGAZINE:
I plan to make the name of my music magazine MTR which stands for Music to Remember as I will put this underneath the masthead so then the reader knows what it stands for. Also this name relates to the band A Day to Remember which is a rock band so this will relate to my genre as I plan to make my genre rock/indie bands. However I will also include new bands that relate to this genre as this will keep the reader more entertained as the target audience will be guys and girls ages 16-24 so they will be interested in learning about new bands so they get more of a variety of bands. I will use NME as my inspiration for my magazine as this will help influence me to target at the specific audience and keep to the genre that my magazine is aimed at.
In my magazine I will include some features about fashion to keep the reader entertained as this will interest them if the shops I include are independent stores and vintage fashion as these are these are the stores will be more popular than the high street stores with this particular audience because the genre of the magazine will appeal to an audience that want to be different and unique so my magazine will show that that is completely okay and that there are lots of people just like them. The house style for my magazine will black, white and red which is a typical house style for the magazine NME and these colours contrast each other and look professional therefore it will stand out when it is on the shelves and catch the readers eye.
NME is published by IPC Media, therefore I will use this as my publisher as my target audience and NME's target audience are the same so I will like to use a company which is already successful.
In my magazine I will include a variety of features for example interviews with different bands that the target audience know and like therefore appealing to them and they are more likely to buy the magazine. By having a range of bands inside the magazine it gives the reader a variety of choices so they can choose which interviews to read so if they don't like one band they are likely to like another. I will also include a feature to do with different gigs and different photos that have been taken at gigs and then get the reader to rate them and also to send their own images in via Instagram or Twitter, so it will include audience participation as the reader is getting involved with the magazine. I will also include an album and gig review page so the reader can send in their comments if they have anything else to add to what I recommend. It will also encourage the reader to buy the albums or buy tickets for the bands next gig so therefore will interest the reader as they are listening to different bands that they may have not have heard of. I will also include special offers that include Itunes vouchers which will appeal to the reader as their main interest is music so therefore they will need the vouchers more than anything else. Also I will include clothing discounts aswell as this will be popular with the audience as they will like to get their clothing cheaper so they will be more likely to buy the magazine. I will also include competitions to win free gig tickets as this will be very popular because my target audience are likely to attend gigs regularly and enjoy going to them so they will buy the magazine because they have to a chance to win the tickets for free.
I will distribute my magazine as a print and online version so I will include a website on the print version to show a symbiotic relationship between both of them and also by having a online version it is more accessible to read the magazine as the online version can be downloaded onto phones or Ipads creating the whole idea that the reader can read the magazine at their own leisure. The online version because it is on the web it means it will be more up to date than the print based version because it will updated constantly, therefore the online version will keep the reader completely up to date with the latest news.
The cost of my magazine will be £1.50 as this was the most popular price that my survey results suggested. This will be good value for a month as this will be the standard price, however if there will be more free gifts or giveaways then the price may go up depending on what the gift is for that month.
My unique selling point will be that I will advertise a radio and TV station relating the magazine to create an immersive world making the magazine more accessible meaning the reader can get involved in many different media platforms. I will also include free gifts every month for example a bands EP for that month therefore persuading the reader to buy the magazine as this will give them a taster of what that band sounds like to see whether or not the reader likes them.

SUMMER PHOTOGRAPHY: gig photos
This image shows a side view of the main singer and the pose connotates power and and success which is also shown by the low angle that the shot is taken at. Some of the crowd can be seen at the side and flashes can be seen which shows they are taking photos of him. I could use this image for a photo gallery page where it shows the different types of photos that were took at particular gigs.
This image shows the set of a McFly gig. Even though they don't necessarily fit into my genre I can include this image in my magazine by putting it in a photo gallery of different gigs with special effects and lighting. It also shows some of the crowd and how they are close together which shows it is a standing gig and that it is in a medium venue.

SUMMER PHOTOGRAPHY: gig photos
This image is a close up of the main singer of the band that is shown on the above photo. The iconography of the image is based on a rock theme as the singer has tattoos and long hair which connotates this typeof genre. The t-shirt that he is wearing is clearly recognised so this image could be used if I did a merchandise page because it could be advertising the type of product that you can buy that the singer wear. It is on a low angle so it shows that the singer is the main focus and has more power than the crowd.
SUMMER PHOTGRAPHY: gig photos
I will use these two images in my magazine because they are from the same gig so it could be on a feature for the band or a photo gallery of pictures for one particular gig. The first image shows the atmosphere at the gig which shows a smaller venue which will appeal to the reader as it will relate to the genre of the magazine. From the first image it is clear to see the band and who is the main singer and it is a medium shot. The second image focuses more on the main singer and is in a pose which shows he could be feeling quite powerful. I could use these images in my magazine either on the contents page or on my double page spread.
SURVEY RESULTS
From these results I can conclude that I will use bands like Arctic Monkeys and Imagine Dragons in my magazine, however I will also use different bands that may not be popular with the results but the magazine can introduce the bands to the reader. The colour scheme for my magazine will be Black/White/Red and I will include a various amount of special offers in my magazine as these are popular. For my double page spread the most popular feature is an interview with a band so I will include this and also I will include a range of social networking sites in the magazine to create synergy and audience participation. The type of gig venues were small, medium and large so I will try and include a range of bands that play at the different venues. The most popular adverts for the magazine were the music albums and gigs and also clothing so I will advertise these on my contents page. I will include many ways for the reader to get involved with the magazine but mostly competitons. I will include a special offer for the show Converse as these were the most popular and I will price my magazine at £1.50.

SUMMER PHOTOGRAPHY: gig photos
This image is a medium close up and will be good to use for my magazine because it shows the main singer playing the keyboard and is clear to see. Even though you can't see his face very well because of the lightening I think it gives it a good effect because it shows the mysterious side to the image. The iconography is clear from the image as the main singer has long hair that goes over his face which relates to the rock genre of my magazine. I can use this in my magazine because it will be good for a feature of acoustic bands or singer solos from certain gigs. Or I could put it into a photo gallery of gigs that people have been too or a review page where the pictures are rated out of 10 to see how good people think they are.
I like this image because you can clearly see the band in their element and because the image is a long shot it clearly shows the instruments around the band. It fits into the genre of my magazine because if I make a page of acoustic sets from various gigs this image will fit in well because you can tell from the background and band that it has a relaxed atmosphere instead of a typical rock gig. This band was a support act for the band Deaf Havana, which shows that they are a new and upcoming band which will be good to put into my magazine because it can introduce the audience into new bands and because they like the genre of the magazine they will like the new bands that are shown in the magazine.

SUMMER PHOTOGRAPHY TASK: gig photos
This is a good image to use because it is clear and easy to see the main singer so the audience can regconise them. Also the image focuses on the main star because there is nothing in the background that will make the audiences attention look at something else, this means that the picture will be easy to use for a magazine because it can be cropped without cutting off any key images in the background. The image is a mid-shot because you can see from the waist up, this shows the singers facial expression and clothing more clearly. My music magazine will be rock music so the image will fit into this genre because the drums can be seen in the background and the main singer's iconography can be seen with his tattoos which are usually represented with rock musicians. However the singer shows a layed back atmosphere because of the beer in his hand which shows it is a small gig that he is enjoying. Rock gigs are usually in small venues where it is all standing.
This image is a long shot of the stage which focuses more on the atmosphere of the crowd than the actual band that is playing. However the band can be seen in the background as the logo of a skull and cross bones can be seen and the word 'GASLIGHT' can be seen behind the lights. This image shows the confined space in the venue and everyone standing up, this relates to the genre of rock music because The Gaslight Anthem are a rock band but it can be seen because of the crowed conditions. The skull and crossbones logo shows that it links the iconography of a rock band and shows a rebellious attitude that would link to a rock band. This image can be used in my magazine for a photo gallery of different gig pictures that shows the different crowds and atmosphere.
